Don(ald) Vernon, born 1928, Australian modern jazz musician; clarinet, flute and saxophone.
Don Burrows began playing as a soloist in the ABC radio showband when he was 16. He later formed his own quartet and won acclaim at overseas jazz festivals. A composer and teacher as well as a performer, he instituted the jazz studies program at the NSW State Conservatorium of Music, Sydney (1973), later becoming the program's first permanent director (1980).
